Bacon-wrapped Pork Filets
Let’s take a high-calorie classic – the Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon – and make a version of it that’ll be just as much a treat for you and your dinner guests with significantly fewer calories. Plus, as a bonus, we’ll make a sauce to top both the filet and your sides.
What you’ll need to get started:
- a 1-2 pound pork tenderloin
- 6 slices of ready cooked bacon (like Oscar Mayer)
- salt & pepper
- 2 tsp. olive oil
For the sauce:
- 1/2 an onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp light butter
Pulling your dish together:
- Heat oil in non-stick skillet to medium temperature
- Cut pork tenderloin into five or six 1 – 1 1/2 inch thick filets
- Wrap outer edge of pork filets with slice of bacon, fasten with toothpick
- Season pork with salt and pepper then place into pan
- Brown filets on each side for 5-6 minutes
- Remove from heat and cover
- Add onion to pan and saute for a couple of minutes until transparent
- Pour in wine and bring to a simmer.
- Pour in broth, Worcestershire & lemon juice. Simmer for 5 minutes
- Whisk in butter and continue cooking for 1 minute
- Serve Pork Filets topped with sauce. Garnish with Parsley to taste
The Bacon-Wrapped Pork Filets are great accompanied by mashed potatoes and a green vegetable side like green beans, brussel sprouts or broccoli. It’s recommended that the pan sauce is placed on top of the pork and mashed to enhance the flavors.
With a time commitment of only 30 minutes from start to finish, this meal is a good after work or busy day option while tasting like it took a lot more time to prepare. It’s also a perfect alternative to beef and chicken dishes. Give it a shot..and let me know what you think. Mangia and enjoy.

Di,
LOVE pork tenderloin & will definitely try this recipe! btw – how is pre-cooked bacon better for you than cooking regular bacon? or is it?
Nice, AD. I think you’ll enjoy it. To answer your question about the bacon, calorically it’s about the same as regular bacon. The upside is portion control – I can pull out 4 slices for 70 calories and stop there instead of going through a whole pound package. Plus, it’s really convenient – 45 seconds in the microwave and you can’t tell the difference from the one you fry up in the pan. My favorite pre-cooked is Oscar Mayer Fully Cooked Bacon – Regular slices. Ciao
