Super Crispy & Tasty Grill Pizza

Grill Pizza - 180 Calories (3 pts)

One of the recipes I absolutely LOVE to make on the grill in the spring, summer and fall is Grilled Pizza.   Yes, you heard correctly…I’m talking about pizza that’s made right on the grill with no pan.  The direct heat on the crust and pizza results in a very fluffy, crispy dough with veggies and toppings that are cooked to perfection.

And, we’re talking about very little commitment to pull it all together.  In fact, it takes no more than 5 minutes to prep and only 10-15 minutes to bake until done.  Grilled Pizza serves as a great appetizer at your summer BBQ or is a quick dinner option when you need one.

Plus, you have the ability to bring tons of variety to this recipe by changing up the ingredients you use.  If you like it on your pizza, add it.

What You’ll Need to Make This:

  • Cooking spray for the grill grate
  • Store bought pizza dough (no more than 120 calories per serving)
  • 1 c sliced or diced veggies
  • 1 c pizza sauce (no more than 60 calories per serving)
  • 1/2 c reduced fat, shredded mozzarella cheese
  • garlic salt and oregano to taste
  • Lean Proteins (optional)

Preparing Your Pizza:

  1. Preheat grill to med – high until it reaches 350-400 degrees
  2. Roll out pizza dough into circle and allow to rest while grill preheats
  3. Spray grill with cooking spray
  4. Place rolled out dough directly on grill grates
  5. Sauce pizza dough & top with veggies and proteins
  6. Cover with shredded cheese
  7. Sprinkle with garlic salt & oregano
  8. Close grill lid and allow to cook for 8-10 minutes uninterrupted
  9. Check at 8-10 min to keep crust from getting dark (drop heat if necessary)
  10. Bake for 1-2 more minutes until toppings cooked and cheese is melted
  11. Remove from heat, cut, and serve

Grill Pizza goes really well with a large salad with dressing.  Mangia and enjoy.

I’ll bake one right up for you. Seriously, this takes minutes to pull together and tastes awesome. It’s like a Brick Oven pizza. Yum.
