Finally Got To Play In The Snow (& Banana Bread Scramble)

On Monday, New England was hit with a pretty decent wave of snow. In fact, some even called it a blizzard.

All I know is that we got more than a foot of the white stuff and that I was still on vacation from work. Therefore, PLAY TIME.

Here’s how the Winter Wonderland looked from the front … …back …. ….and side of my house (Hi Maya!)

Snowshoes were out & on so I could parade around the yard for 30 +minutes. Great exercise and fun!

I didn’t even care that it was a tad windy out there. Maya was up for joining me on this yard march. She’s such a good girl like that.

And we made sure that Rufus & Maya could get in some play time of their own. They’re maniacs in the snow.

Eventually, Rufus started winding down and let me know he was ready to go warm up inside. How could I refuse this face??

What a nice way to get snow season going for us. Hopefully, we can take a long snowshoeing hike through one of our local parks real soon. It’s so much fun…and an excellent way to burn calories in the winter. Did you get outside to play this week?

Ok.. Breakfast # 24 of 30 from the 30 Days of Breakfast is a Banana Bread Breakfast Scramble. Loosely based on a bread pudding, this breakfast treat was easily whipped up in a skillet. It’s warm, moist, and sweet. Yum.

To make this at home, mix the following in a bowl until all liquid is absorbed by ingredients: 1 slice of lightly toasted bread torn into pieces, 1 banana – sliced, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 Tsp dried cranberries, ½ tsp ginger, ½ tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp allspice, 2 Tbsp Milk (I used Vanilla Almond), ¼ c egg white, pinch of salt.

Then, cook in a skillet on medium-high heat until warmed through and it starts to brown. Remove from pan..and top with light butter, sugarfree syrup, and cinnamon sugar. Deeeee-lish!

I have ZERO desire to do most snow sports, but snow shoeing sounds so fun. The hubs and I were talking about it just the other day.

Also, I adore your dogs. We’re hoping to get a dog after we move to Portland! What kind of pups are they?

I feel the same way about other winter sports like skiing etc. Snowshoeing is different and lots of fun. Hope you like it …when you try it.
Love Portland – it’s cool that you’re planning to move there. We had considered it at one point. Great city. Both my doggies are Carolina Dogs that we adopted from a shelter when they were about 1 yr old. (at separate times) Best dogs ever. Good luck in finding a pup. They’re so worth it.

little Basil Pup is um, short. Any good amount of snow and he’s low riding in it… doesn’t like!!

That is too cute!I love all the dog pics! My dog has only seen snow 1 time ever, but he absolutely LOVED running around! It’s hilarious, since without snow shoes they just sink right into the snow! Looks like fun!
