Giving In Never Felt So Good

Since the start of my pregnancy, I’ve been adamant about wanting to stay in my ‘normal’ clothes as long as humanly possible. I was going to do whatever it took to squeeze into my standard wardrobe.

And up to a few days short of my 16th week, I did just that. I wore the items in my closet. Now, you think that should have left me feeling great. But, instead, I was just miserable and uncomfortable a few more weeks than necessary.

Enter my knowledgeable coworker (who recently delivered twins too) to the rescue. After a lunch date where she was sharing her experiences with me, she sent me a link to her favorite maternity jeans from Old Navy.

I figured I could order a pair or two online and give them a try – especially since they came highly recommended as pants that look good and more importantly feel great. Here’s what I picked out:

A pair of bootcut

And a pair of flare

When they arrived in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my coworker was absolutely right. These pants are very much like a standard jean while being oh-so-comfy. I’m in complete love with them and I’m a much happier person while wearing them instead of the recent tight, waist-cutting jeans from my closet.

The moral of the story here..is that I let my ideas of what maternity clothes would be like ..keep me from actually trying them. Little did I know, that it would turn out to be a good experience. Since then, I’ve put in a bit more shopping time and my body thanks me. J

Anything you’ve learned recently that surprised you?

When I was pregnant 99% of my stuff came from Old Navy, Target, and Lucy. Definitely stick with sweats as much as you can because you can wear them afterwards…and ON is cheap enough that you can buy some things that don’t look like exercise wear.

I’m surprised that you didn’t want to wear maternity clothes! I have seen SO many cute things and I think you can definitely still look cute while pregnant. :)

They are super cute! It’s nice that there are so many options out there…I remember being pregnant and spending a fortune at Sears on maternity clothes I didn’t like just because there wasn’t any other option :)

I’m finding my calm faster after stressful situations…just like this weekend when I spent the entire time cleaning up after a sick dog!

Awe I’m glad and those jeans are super cute. One of my friends wore Target Maternity clothing that she loved.

I tried an Ethiopian Vegan restaurant on Saturday and was surprised of how much I enjoyed that. It was seriously one of my new favorites.
