On the Move (Again)

My Boy Rufus on a recent walk

At the start of my pregnancy, I firmly believed that I’d be able to keep up a consistent exercise routine. I mean, what would keep me from it, it’s supposed to be good for me & the babies and you’re allowed to do what you can as long as your body is up for it.

So in the beginning, I did get my runs and walks in. In fact, I even felt good enough for a 5k race on January 1st – which marked my 6th week. In January, I also snowshoed several times but my activity started to wind down by the end of month.

Then suddenly, I was way off course from my previous 365 day challenge routine. I wasn’t expecting to be able to keep up this specific pace. But, I wasn’t ready for being too tired to do anything consistently in February and March.

I’m happy to report though..that things seemed to have changed. My energy is back and I started to get some walking mileage in at the end of March and the beginning of April. This month, I’ve logged 10 days of walking (and some jogging) over the last two weeks.

I can’t lie. It feels great to be on the move again..and it feels just as good to get outside in the spring weather. I’ve really missed both. Check out this smile from a recent outing. It says it all.

So my plan – like for many of us – is to keep on doing what exercise I can as many days a week as I can. It’s all about staying moving not only for me ..but also to help my body prepare for the big day. Plus, I’ve been feeling pretty good lately so why not keep up the routine.

How have you been doing with exercise and getting outside?

I think the best thing I ever did was exercise right up until the day I was induced…it made the recovery SO much easier!!

The weather here has been absolute crap lately, so really it’s just enough to keep moving inside (we have a treadmill in the basement). It looks like our turnaround could be this week though, and honestly, that would be an absolute Godsend.

Yay! I’m glad your getting on the move again. I’ve been doing good with exercising, but not so much exercising outside. I need to. It’s been beautiful weather.

It’s been rather chilly here so I have been swimming a lot more. I’m glad you still try and get some exercise in with the baby on the way. That is certainly a lot of peoples mistake blech. :(

It is a warm day, and I hope to get out in it, though last night’s rain have probably mushed up the woods pretty well, and not sure I want to be in them if another thunderstorm comes around. But looking at the thermometer reading 57 degrees at 9am is a strong temptation. I can do chores after sunset, right??
    Keep going, Di!
